RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: - Obtain and maintain 40 hour HAZMAT certification - Clean compressor rooms to maintain an appropriate level of cleanliness, neatness, and safety - Take readings from pressure gauges, thermometers, water meters, hour meters, and counters to evaluate proper equipment and refrigeration system operation - Draw water samples from condensers and closed loop cooling systems and perform chemical tests on the samples to evaluate the water for proper chemistry - Make adjustments to chemical feed pumps, conductivity controllers, and timers to achieve proper water chemistry - Maintain the proper salt level in water softening brine tanks - Start & stop compressors, pumps, condensers, evaporators and auxiliary equipment to keep the plant functioning in an efficient manner - Understand the basic refrigeration cycle - Perform basic refrigeration system troubleshooting - Operate hand valves to control the flow of fluids throughout the system - Isolate and pump-down a variety of equipment including purgers, compressors, evaporators, pumps, chillers, and condensers - Understand and use refrigerant pressure temperature charts - Drain refrigeration oil from installed oil pots - Add lubricating oil to screw and reciprocating compressors - Extract basic operating data from compressor control panels, pump control panels, evaporator control panels, system panels, and control computers to evaluate proper equipment and refrigeration system operation - Understand the construction, operation, and function of mechanical refrigerant float control switches - Understand the construction, operation, and function of Phillips float control valves - Understand the department color codes used for ammonia piping identification REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: - High School Diploma - Minimum of 2 years experience in Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Welding, Hydraulic/Pneumatic systems, Construction Trades or Air Conditioning Maintenance - Lift 20 lbs or more on an occasional basis - Standing, stooping, walking, bending and climbing. - Ability to work in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 130 degrees. - Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds. - Must be able to work standing, sitting, stooping, bending or in a prone position. - Must be able to work with hands over head. - Must be able to climb and work from a ladder. - Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays Please contact Abel Acevedo Senior Recruiter acevedo.abel@heb.com 30/180
